TERMS OF SERVICE

Terms of Service

The agreement

These Terms of Service are an agreement between you and STEMbie Kids ("we", "us"), the provider of the STEMbie Kids app for iOS and Android, the parent console, and this website (together, "STEMbie Kids"). By creating a family account, pairing a phone, or using STEMbie Kids, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use STEMbie Kids. The terms of the store you downloaded the app from also apply.

Family accounts

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and the parent or legal guardian of each child you add. You agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and your children, and you are responsible for how STEMbie Kids is used on the phones you pair.

  • Give accurate information and keep your email address current so you receive account messages.
  • Keep your password, family codes, and children's PINs private. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • Pair only phones used by your own children. Each family can add up to 10 children.

Experiments and safety

STEMbie Kids suggests hands-on experiments with ordinary household materials. A responsible adult must read each experiment first, decide whether it suits the child, gather the materials, and supervise the child throughout, especially near water, heat, electricity, sharp objects, small parts, or anything that could be swallowed. Stop if anything seems unsafe. You are responsible for your household's safety, and we are not responsible for injury or damage that results from an experiment carried out without proper supervision or care.

The science tutor

The science tutor uses an artificial intelligence service to answer children's questions. Answers are shaped for the child's age and pass through safety filters, and parents can read every question and answer in the curiosity journal. AI can still make mistakes or give incomplete answers, so the tutor is a learning aid, not a teacher or an expert source, and it does not give medical, safety, or other professional advice. Asking the tutor costs coins and is limited each day.

Your family's content

Photos, notes, and questions your children send, and the feedback you write, remain yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process, and show them to your family and our support staff only as needed to run and protect STEMbie Kids, as described in the Privacy Policy. This licence ends when the content is deleted.

When using STEMbie Kids, you and your children must not upload or write anything that:

  • Shows people other than your own family, or anyone without their permission.
  • Is violent, sexual, hateful, harassing, or otherwise harmful or unsuitable for children.
  • Includes personal details such as addresses, phone numbers, or school names.
  • Infringes anyone else's rights or breaks the law.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.

Family Pass subscriptions

Some lessons are free. The Family Pass unlocks all lessons for every child in the family. It is offered monthly or yearly, and the price, any free trial, and the billing terms are shown in the app and by the store before you confirm a purchase. Purchases are made in the app on the child's phone, behind a grown-ups check.

  • Payment is taken by the Apple App Store or Google Play when you confirm the purchase, or when a free trial ends.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • Cancel or manage the subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your family account does not cancel it.
  • After cancelling, the Family Pass stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies and any consumer rights you have by law.

We may change prices or what is included. A price change will not affect a period you have already paid for, and the store will tell you before a higher price applies.

Coins and rewards

Children earn coins for learning, quizzes, and verified experiments, and spend them on tutor questions. Coins have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or exchanged for money, and may be adjusted if they were awarded in error.

Your licence to use STEMbie Kids

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use STEMbie Kids for your family's own non-commercial learning. Lessons, illustrations, experiments, the STEMbie name, logo, and characters, and the software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark laws.

You agree not to:

  • Copy, sell, republish, or distribute lessons or other content outside your family, for example in a classroom or paid course, without our written permission.
  • Reverse engineer the app, scrape content, or access the service by automated means.
  • Interfere with or try to gain unauthorised access to STEMbie Kids, other families' accounts, or our systems, or bypass the grown-ups check, screen-time limits, or subscription checks.
  • Use STEMbie Kids in a way that breaks the law.

Updates and changes

The app may download small updates to its own code when it opens; larger updates come through the store. We may add, change, or remove lessons and features. If we stop offering STEMbie Kids, we will give reasonable notice and explain what happens to active subscriptions.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using STEMbie Kids at any time and ask us to delete your family account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, puts a child at risk, or is used fraudulently, and where reasonable we will tell you why. The sections on your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law continue to apply after the agreement ends.

Disclaimers

STEMbie Kids is an educational aid and does not replace a school, teacher, or professional advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, and our total liability for any claim relating to STEMbie Kids is limited to the amount you paid for the Family Pass in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer in a place with mandatory consumer protection laws, such as the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Nigeria, or South Africa, those laws apply and these terms do not take them away.

Terms required by the app stores

If you got the app from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for any claim relating to it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo and are not on any United States government list of restricted parties.

If you got the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply, and Google is not a party to these terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which we are established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in its courts where its law allows.

Before starting a formal dispute, please contact us. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and informally.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we publish the new version here with a new date, and we will tell you about material changes by email or in the parent console before they apply. Continuing to use STEMbie Kids afterwards means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
